Flora

In the park there are four different vegetation types:

Patagonian steppe, vegetation adapted to strong winds and unfavorable weather, like desert shrubs and grasses.
Pre Andean shrubs: perennial shrubs
Magellanic Deciduous forest: Lenga and Ñirre forest.
Andean Desert: Tolerant species to lower temperatures and high precipitations..

MOST COMMON FLORA:

Gaultheria mucronata (Prickly Health)
Shrub of variable shape and size, sometimes reaching up to 2 m (6,5 feet) in height. It is found close to Nothofagus forest.. It has an edible white, pink or red fruit.

Embothrium coccineum (Firebush)
Small-sized tree reaching up to 10 m (32,8 feet) in height, sometimes shrub-like in form, but always without a definite crown. The flowers are bright red like matches,

Anarthrohyllum desiderátum (Neneo)
Well-branched shrub forming dense cushions reaching up to 50 cm (19,6 inches) in height. It is found in rocky soils in the Patagonian steppe. It is Endemic to Patagonia.

Misodrendon punctulatum (Farol Chino)
Semi-parasite shrub growing on the branches of Nothofagus trees. Its color changes during its cycle, from yellow, green and red.

Berberis microphylla (Calafate)
Robust and well – branched shrub, reaching up to 4 m (13.1 feet) in height. The flowers are yellow and the fruit is a bluish edible berry.

Nothofagus pumilio (Lenga)
Tree up to 30 meters (98.4 feet) in height. Its leaves are deciduous. Belongs to the Nothofagus family. Its wood is used for construction.

Nothofagus antártica (Ñirre)
Tree up to 20 m (65.6 feet) in height, sometimes behaving as shrub of up to 2 m (6.5 feet) in height. It belongs to the Nothofagus family, native to Chile and Argentina.

Nothofagus betuloides (Coigue)
Tree up to 25 meters (82 feet) in height or sometimes as a small shrub. Leaves are perennial. It can be found close to the glaciers

Chiliotrichum diffusum (Fachine)
Perennial shrub of up to 1.5 meters (4,9 feet) in height.  Its flowers have antiseptic power and were used as medicine by the natives.

Usnea barabata (Barba de Viejo)
Lichen specie that grows close to the bark and branches on trees, they are present in clean environments, they need a lot of oxygen to grow.

Calvatia Ciathiformis (powder mushroom)
Powder mushroom, edible when they are soft and tender.

Cyttaria hookeri (Dihueñe Mohoso)
Edible parasite, present on Nothofagus branches.
